Oley Valley Community Fair

Elizabeth Voight 2018 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen


On first day of fall (September 22), I traveled to northeast Pennsylvania to be a part of the Oley Valley Community Fair!  The fair President, Mr. Kevin Bieber, greeted me and gave me a wonderful tour of the fair!  All fairs are truly unique and one of the interesting events at this fair is the pumpkin growing contest.  This year's winner produced a pumpkin weighing over 700 pounds!  The food stands operating at Oley Valley were headed up by volunteers throughout the community.  The community presence was certainly evident throughout the fair!  I enjoyed eating the delicious french fries and a creamy vanilla milkshake.  Following the meal I spent the rest of my time working in the milkshake stand.  Thank you, Oley Valley Community Fair!

Manheim Community Farm Show

Elizabeth Voight 2018 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen On October 8, I visited the Manheim Community Farm Show...the LAST fair.  What a nice way to wrap up my fair travels!  Upon arrival I was given a tour of the fairs grounds.  Pumpkins, corn shucks, and lights lined the walk ways showcasing some products from the harvest season.  2017 Manheim Community Farm Show Queen, Emily Witmer, greeted me and we enjoyed catching up!  I had the pleasure of getting to know her well at the state convention in January.  I then, took part in their royalty ceremony and spoke about my role as the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen.  I was honored to participate in their ceremony as they crowned their new queen.  What I admired most about this fair was the strong sense of community!  Special thanks to the Manheim Community Farm Show for your warm hospitality and a wonderful evening!

103rd Pennsylvania Farm Show

Elizabeth Voight 2018 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen On January 5-12, I took part in the 103rd Pennsylvania Farm Show!  It is the nation's largest indoor agricultural exposition under one roof, with near 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits, and attended by over 400,000 people.  I had the opportunity to participate in many events including the PA Preferred VIP Reception, a photo opportunity with other commodity representatives and Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, the Opening Ceremonies, the Livestock Sale of Champions and the Celebrity Draft Horse Team Driving Contest!  Also, I enjoyed exhibiting my Angus cattle.  Many thanks to all the Farm Show staff, volunteers, exhibitors, and consumers who made this event such a success!
